If you opt to purchase the insurance policy for your whole family, then you are required to pay the insurance premium for each member. The premium amount starts from Rs 300. However, under the Covid-19 scheme, you will have the option either to do insurance of 50k or 100k. According to the Nepal insurance board “Covid-19 Insurance scheme has been divided into two categories, referring as ‘A’ and ‘B’. For more clarity please refer to the table below:

The Covid-19 Insurance policy has a validity period of one year i.e. the customers can take the benefit of this plan for 1 year after purchasing the Covid-19 insurance policy or until the person has confirmed of contracting the virus within that year. The waiting period is for 15 days before one can claim against the insurance policy.
The insurance company will not pay the claim if the insured person contracts the coronavirus within the 15 days of taking out the policy. On the other hand, the company will pay the claim if the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test is positive 15 days after the policy has been bought by the insured person.

If you have visited any foreign country within the last 30 days, there is a separate provision for purchasing this insurance policy. For detailed information please contact the respective insurance company.
- In case of PCR Test of Coronavirus (Covid-19) comes out positive of the person named in the policy, the amount per capita mentioned in the policy will be compensated to the proposer, his/her family or close relatives.
- This insurance policy can be obtained by contacting the nearest branch office, employees, or insurance officers of the company.
- The waiting period will be 15 days from the date of commencement of insurance.
- The insured will be eligible for claim as soon as the Covid-19 PCR test is positive and producing the proof.

Step 1: Signup and Login to Khalti from Khalti App or Web Dashboard using Khalti.com
Step 2: Tap on “Covid-19 Insurance” icon on the home screen
Step 3: Select an insurance company according to your need and tap on “Next”
Step 4: Fill out all the details, select the desired “Insurance Coverage amount” and “Number of family numbers”(including yourself)
Step 5: If the number of family number is more than one, enter the additional details
Step 6: Tap on “Get Details”
Step 7: Check the details, select a payment option, and tap on Place order/Check out to proceed
Step 8: Confirm the details and tap on Ok to pay. You will get a downloadable order receipt from the transaction section in the Khalti app.
The insurance company you have selected will reach you over call to get more details ASAP and issue a policy after their due process. Khalti is just helping you process the payment and shall not be responsible for policy issuance and claim on behalf of the Insurance company.
