Khalti has signed up an MoU with Sunrise Bank Nepal Ltd. to facilitate digital payments to its customers.
Manish Modi, Managing Director of Khalti, and Mr. Robin Kumar Nepal, Deputy General Manager of Sunrise Bank, signed the MoU on Thursday, 22 March.
This alliance will enable Sunrise Bank customers to load their Khalti accounts via Sunrise mobile banking and make payments for various goods and services on the go via Khalti mobile app and web service.
This partnership will also enable Sunrise Bank’s customers to pay especially at popular online merchant sites. This will further help in the adaption of digital payments by the users of Nepal hence moving towards a cashless economy.
Speaking about the agreement, Managing Director of Khalti, Manish Modi shared,
We are glad to sign MoU with Sunrise Bank. Now, Sunrise Bank users need not withdraw cash to pay for goods and services. They can simply pay via Khalti. The initiative would help consumers go cashless in payments and facilitate hassle-free transactions. With this partnership, Khalti has taken another step ahead towards its mission of making mobile payment possible to all the users in Nepal, ultimately making the nation cashless.
Started in January 2017, Khalti is an emerging mobile payment solution in Nepal, allowing users to pay for mobile balance top-up, pay electricity/water bills, DTH and internet bills, movie tickets, airline ticketing, hotel booking, and more. Currently, Khalti is used by more than 700,000 users on a regular basis to make various payments.
