Kitab Yatra, an online bookstore has started operation with an aim to develop and promote the reading culture in Nepal. The company began the campaign ‘now books will travel to your doorstep’ organizing an event on Thursday in Kathmandu.
Rishiram Adhikari, CEO of Kitab Yatra informed that books will be delivered to both the city area as well as the remote villages outside the Kathmandu valley just within three days of ordering online. “For convenience, we have partnered with Khalti Digital Wallet to make payment easily from its website and mobile app” he shared.
Nayan Raj Pandey, an acclaimed writer, and novelist said that this campaign will work as a bridge between writers and readers.
Likewise, writers Buddhisagar, Brajesh Khanal, and Saguna Shah among others had also spoken on the occasion. Speakers of the program stated that selling books online in developing countries like Nepal is a relatively risky job, and emphasized that this campaign will encourage reading culture in Nepal.
CEO Adhikari further shared that they have also been working to establish libraries in corporate houses, banks, hospitals, schools, colleges, restaurants, and cafes with the mission of making reading an integral part of our daily lives. “Our primary objective is to arrange a hassle-free environment for all the bibliophiles who wish to grab a copy of their favorite reads,” he stated.
