We are proud to announce that Khalti’s Android app has been downloaded by more than 100,000 users.
The app hit the milestone shortly after one year of its launch in the Nepali market. The recent growth comes after the company’s ‘Refer-and-Earn’ offer that has become an internet sensation in Nepal recently. This offer allows existing Khalti users to refer a Non-Khalti user to sign up and use Khalti. One can earn up to Rs. 5000 in this process.
“We are extremely overwhelmed and excited to get love and support from users like this. Never before had a mobile payment app from Nepal gone viral in such a way. Lots of users are loving and trusting us. Now we have lot more responsibility added on us. This, we feel, is a dopamine given to us to take Khalti to next level, and bring lots of services and banks to our platform. We believe that this has marked the starting of an era of cashless economy in Nepal.”
In this short span of one year, Khalti has emerged as one of the most preferred mobile payment solutions in Nepal, allowing users to pay for mobile balance top-up, pay electricity/water bills, DTH and internet bills, movie tickets, airline ticketing, hotel booking and more.
At a time when cashless transactions are on the rise all across the globe, Nepal is also moving in the same direction. Our mission is to enable cashless payment at local grocery stores, bus/taxi fares, petrol pumps, multiplexes, and restaurants among others, and ultimately make Nepal cashless.
On October 12 last year, Khalti was declared the winner of the GBG Storytelling Contest, a global startup competition. We are proud to be recognized globally for our work in the mission of cashless Nepal.
Thank you for believing, supporting, and motivating us. We are relentlessly working to simplify your life through cashless payments. Expecting similar love and support from you.
