About the Role

We are looking for a curious and driven Junior Data Engineer to join our growing data team. In this role, you will work closely with senior engineers to build, maintain, and optimize data pipelines that power our business intelligence and analytics capabilities. This is a great opportunity for someone who is eager to learn, enjoys problem-solving, and wants to grow their career in the data engineering space.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and monitor SSIS pipelines to ensure reliable and efficient data movement across systems.
  • Work with Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases to write optimized SQL queries, stored procedures, and views.
  • Assist in building and maintaining SSRS and Apache Superset reports for stakeholders across the organization.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve data quality issues and pipeline failures in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with analysts and senior engineers to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Document data flows, pipeline logic, and database schemas to maintain a healthy knowledge base.
  • Participate in code reviews, team standups, and technical discussions to continuously improve practices.
  • Research new tools, techniques, and best practices in data engineering and proactively suggest improvements.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Foundational knowledge of SQL with the ability to write and optimize queries across relational databases.
  • Hands-on familiarity or academic exposure to Microsoft SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL.
  • Basic understanding of ETL concepts and data pipeline design.
  • Ability to analyze datasets and identify patterns, anomalies, or data quality concerns.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data exploration, reconciliation, and ad-hoc analysis.
  • Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of assigned tasks, and proactively seek solutions.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) for ETL pipeline development.
  • Experience with SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) or Apache Superset for report building.
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
  • Interest in or experience with scripting languages like Python for data processing tasks.

What We’re Looking For in You

Beyond technical skills, we value the following traits in our ideal candidate:

  • Hunger to Learn: You are self-motivated to keep up with evolving technologies and continuously expand your skill set.
  • Research Orientation: You enjoy digging deep into problems, experimenting with solutions, and sharing findings with the team.
  • Independent Drive: You can take a task and run with it — you don’t wait to be told what to do next.
  • Pattern Recognition: You naturally spot anomalies and inconsistencies in data and enjoy investigating the root cause.
  • Team Player: You communicate openly, support your colleagues, and contribute positively to team culture.

What We Offer

  • A collaborative and learning-driven team environment.
  • Mentorship from experienced data engineers and architects.
  • Opportunities to take on increasing responsibility as you grow.
  • Exposure to a modern data stack and real-world engineering challenges.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package.
