G-24 and Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) are all set to jointly organize the Annual Policymakers’ Roundtable on ‘Fintech for Financial Inclusion’ on 18 April, 2018 in Washington, D.C. at the IMF headquarters.
More than 90 high-level G-24 and AFI delegates from around the globe will be attending the meeting, along with representatives from the International Monetary Fund, World Bank Group, and United Nations as well as AFI’s key funding and knowledge partners.
Emerging technologies in the financial sector are driving transformational change in the provision of financial services in such areas as payments, financing, investments, financial information and advice, and asset management. These developments bring both opportunities and risks. The event will take the form of a roundtable discussion among experts on FinTech issues from the public and private sectors and academia, who will be asked to respond to a series of specific questions on how new technologies can disrupt the nature and provision of financial services and the implications that these changes may have for financial stability and regulation.
The roundtable is focused on FinTech for financial inclusion, examining technologies such as alternative credit scoring and digital identity solutions which hold the potential to transform the lives of financially excluded individuals and communities as well as innovative regulatory approaches to support their implementation.
